How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
yeh I think it does, it opens up for a much broader range of artists emerging. It also allows for an significant impact on genre's. As more people feel inclined to create and to broadcast their music this also allows for a much more free interpretation of the music styles than what the mainstream music industry allows as it is bound by sales, and popular demand. Therefore with the internet increasing the musical variety available it will leave more room for genres to develop into more sub-genre's, purifying into various styles which might appeal more to groups. If we give it long enough time, artists on sites such as Soundclick, Myspace and other similar sites might have a greater impact on the music industry as more and more people find interest in exploring the creative side of music with it's uniqueness of every artists interpretation of the general music genre he/she belongs to. A much needed change to a monotone, stale music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
think so, but I wouldn't if I'd have to leave the path which I myself feel I need to follow with my music and how I want to elevate.
