SpM is a punk/ska/indie rock band based out of Somerset Ky. The next generation of ska music has arrived, and It's taken the form of 5 Hyper-active (possibly brain damaged) guys.
Why this name?
Story goes the kids wanted something ironic or self contradictory...but who knows about all that?
Do you play live?
We play live all the time, wherever we can. The best moments are playing a town for the first time and seeing a bunch of kids who've never heard you before just totally go nuts.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's free exposure for bands that can't afford any other kind of distribution. You can't beat that with a stick.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Given that A) We could afford a lawyer to translate it and B)We weren't going to get screwed (like that ever happens), yeah, there's a chance.
Band History:
The whole thing started years ago, and went through a million different name and lineup changes. Sock Puppet Mafia as it is now began a few years ago, with the lineup of a rhythm trio and two trombones. Several more lineup changes ensued, and in the Summer of 03 SpM finally stuck with what we feel is a solid group.
