DYP tha goldynchild is a Korean-American MC reppin' NY/Philly/NJ. One of the most explosive up and coming MC's on the scene, DY's material showcases his lyrical prowess and versatility. Already building momentum on the East Coast, tha goldynchild is preparing for worldwide assault in 2003.
Do you play live?
yeah...I do shows all over tha east coast. One of the first real performances I ever had was at Club Cheetah in New York. I was a little nervous before the show, but once I got on stage, all the anxiety disappeared and I just fed off the energy of the crowd. Ever since then, I've always relished the stage and the spotlight.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's just another way for artists to get themselves out there and put themselves in a position to bring their music to a new audience. But after all is said and done, it will always come back to the music.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yeah...I've had a few offers already, but I'm just waiting for the right opportunity. God will let me know when the time is right. What a lot of people don't realize is that it's not just about getting signed, it's about finding the right relationship with the right label.
Your influences?
Any real lyricists, who got something dope to say. Also anyone with an ILL style or persona. I'm not close-minded, I can dig a variety of MC's.
I don't think every artist should be judged by the same criteria.
Some key influences, in no particular order:
Gangstarr, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Nas, Eminem, Redman, B.I.G., Snoop, Molino Millionz, Ghostface Killah, and Big Pun.
