NEWS
Edwin Ecker is no longer frontman for the band Kipe(www.myspace.com/kipe). He is working on a new CD with a few musicians that will be released in 2007. The music is a mixture of Devin Townsend, Testament, Porcupine Tree and The Gathering.

Erich Zann is a melodic, technical speedmetal band from Portland, Maine. They have two releases, "The Art of Impact"(1993), and "Reflections of a Troubled Time"(1996).
Why this name?
The name is dirived from an H.P.Lovecraft story called "The Music of Erich Zann". The story really fit into where we, as songwriters, were coming from. The dynamics of it all really fit with what we were looking for, musically, and to some extent, lyrically.
Do you play live?
Erich Zann is a recording project.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The good news is that because of the internet, almost anyone can record and release their own CD. The bad news is that because of the internet, almost anyone can record and release their own CD.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'd go the Devin Townsend Route. If I had the capital, I'd buy my own studio, start my own label and keep pumping out quality music until the dough came rolling in...
Band History:
Erich Zann was formed in 1992 by Guitarist Brent Miller and vocalist Edwin Ecker. The two soon recruited bassist Sonny True and drummer Kevin Risch and began writing material for their debut demo "The Art of Impact." The five song release garnered the band rave reviews in such publications as Heavy Oder Was?!, Feast or Famine, and Metal On Metal.
Being primarily a recording project, it would be until 1996 that the writing partnership of Miller and Ecker would churn out another CD. This one, "Reflections of a Troubled Time", would showcase the group as a much tighter outfit, highlighted by intense musicianship and a more focused songwriting abillity.
In 2003, the band have re-issued the two releases onto one nine - song CD, re-mastered and with new artwork.

Your influences?
For this particuliar project, we we're really into the old school 'underground' Metal scene. Mercyful Fate, Death Angel, , Powermad, Realm; alot of music hardly anyone, besides us, had ever heard before. The musicianship in some of these bands was incredible and they never received nearly the credit they deserved.
Favorite spot?
San Antonio, Texas is the Heavy Metal Capitol of the world. I would like to return there someday.
