The Tearjerkers are a group of guys from Northern Ireland The Band formed back in 1978 at the hight of the punk rock boom of the late seventies.

We play guitar based power pop/rock. After a long lay off the band are back again recording writing tunes. There is still a lot of interest in the bands music from USA, Greece, Spain, Sweden, France and Japan. We currently are preparing for a studio release of material from the seventies and also have re-issued our live album "Everybody wants to shag...
Why this name?
Other bands in Northern Ireland used to blub so much when we took to the stage. Sad but true!!!
Do you play live?
We currently play under the name The Blue Strings and are doing a set of Blues and Soul standards. Travel costs and all you can drink is the usual fee.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The best thing is that bands can communicate directly with fans and sell directly to folk who like the music - Cut out the MR Bigs (the middle men)and keep the prices down!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Where's my pen - no only joking been there done that - you don't need them unless your planning world domination. A distributer however is another matter.
Band History:
The band started in 1978 when Howard Ingram and The Groover from the Detonators the original 1976 punk band, joined forces with Cobra's Nigel Hamilton and Speeds Paul Maxwell. An Irish supergroup Hmmm. We signed to Belfasts Good Vibrations label and then Phonogram in the UK and Mercury worldwide.

We gigged continually building up a solid fan base especially in Southern Ireland. We toured with Thin Lizzy, Dexys Midnight Runners on Irish Tours and Headlined our own gigs in London. We made appearances on local TV and radio stations in North and Southern Ireland.

Currently signed to our own label Belfasts Blue Rhythm Audio and are planning releasing all the bands output during 2004-2005.
