Well, after almost a year in hiding, DJ Akademics aka Peter C. Carpio has come back out and has a load of beats for everyone. Took me a while because I didn't really wanna come out with some half-hearted material. To those who peeped the page before and found nothing, prepare for the ultimate 31 track instrumental album from DJ Akademics ( no I don't spin, sorry ). Thanks to all those I sampled from, without it I would be lost with my ideas.
*** If you want the full beat, send an email to akademics101@yahoo.com and leave the track title of the beat you want and I will send you the full higher-quality beat, for free. All I ask is if you send me back the track you rapped on, haha. ***

Why this name?
When I was in my school library and it just popped in my head. Don't ask why, it just did.
Do you play live?
Yeah I wish, I used to rap back in the day so it would be cool if I can pick up a mic again and start rippin' people apart again. HAHA
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Well I download music now cause it ain't worth buying a cd anymore cause they mostly suck. FREE MUSIC...HOW CAN YOU SAY NO TO THAT ?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah of course. That's everyones dream, to get noticed for your talent. But the deal has to be proper or else.
Band History:
I've been making beats since the summer of 2003 and I've been on and off it. I'm still trying to find my sound but I still feel like I can bring a banger here and there. I did some songs with Twisted Visionz and my boy Akademic Genius, shout out to Jay Heezy and Metroplex City.
Your influences?
I'm into producers like Kanye West, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Rza, Jay Dee aka J Dilla, 9th Wonder, J. Rawls, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, True Master and all the rest of them cats who make dope beats.
Favorite spot?
Where Im from, New York. The hood itself. Even though I don't live there anymore, you can't take the hood out of my mind. Ever.
Equipment used:
Just updated my programs to FLstudio6 and I still use Adobe Audition 1.5. I was thinking about getting an Akai MPC-2000 but it costs a lot of money. I'll just stick with the cheap stuff for now.
Anything else...?
Hopefully I can make some more connections so I can finally make my compilation CD that I always wanted to call my own. I hope that one day I can at least provide 1 beat that will make my mark in this world of Hip Hop music. If I can leave at least that much, then the journey was all worth it.
R.I.P. James " Jay Dee, J Dilla " Yancey. Your music was a huge inspiration to me and I'll never forget the very first Jay Dee track I heard and loved ( A Tribe Called Quest - Word Play ). You have left a huge empty space in this Hip-Hop world and you will always be missed by your loved ones and your dedicated and loyal fans. Rest In Peace.
