CD ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
To those who helped this album come to light; Our fans and everyone who has listened to or contacted us from across the globe, All of our families who have supported us, Shaun Friesen & Free Zen Design, Casey Lewis & Echo Base Studios, Chrys G, all radio shows, podcasts, magazines, websites and individuals who have supported and promoted this band - our heartfelt thanks goes out to you.

To those who resisted or ignored us, the radio who worship the mundane and call it "alternative", the idol-style voting contests who promote sh*** music and waste everyone's time, the bands who place more importance on makeup, choreography and personality cults than songwriting or meaning, the "scene over music" crowd who destroy the individual thinker and praise the mindless herd, and all those who strive to suck the lifeblood out of everything good, Enjoy.

Why this name?
Inner Surge to me, means inspiration from within, and that closely lines up with what music is to me.
Do you play live?
Yes, we play live, but are focusing more on finishing up our upcoming album/videos at the moment. We've enjoyed playing events like the annual CJSW 90.9 funding drive metal show at the Underground, and clubs like Broken City as well. Locally we enjoy playing with Passado, Caveat, Screams of Silence, Revolution, the Blackest Feather and Ahnabith Gish.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps people who may otherwise never hear an artist have access to them. It's helped us reach thousands of fans we wouldn't have reached otherwise. Websites like funender.com and myspace.com have been helpful. iTunes has changed the industry quite a bit. It has helped us to have our album "Signals Screaming" available on iTunes, HMV Digital and Virgin online.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, we are aiming to reach as many people as possible. Creative control is always a must in any contract of that sort, of course. I'm impressed with the work that labels like Relapse Records, Victory Records, Roadrunner Records, EMI, Hopeless Records, Warcon Records and Ferret Records have put into their artists over the past few years. Cyclone Records, to date, has been doing a great job for us and we're gaining momentum on all fronts.
Band History:
Inner Surge is an intense, politically and emotionally charged metal/punk band from Calgary, Canada. The band has an explosive live show and blends punk, rock, metal, hardcore, progressive, electronic and eastern influences. With an eclectic, intense approach, the band explores politics and deep seeded emotions in it's music. As opposed to conforming to the 'meathead' mentality of heavy metal and hard rock, Inner Surge's energy is focused on breaking those stereotypes down, and pushing boundaries, both lyrically and musically. The result is a sound that is compassionate, yet unapologetically raw.

The band was formed in 2001 by Steve Moore, who wrote and recorded the debut album "Solus Verum", a 16-track epic with an intensely personal lyrical approach. The next album "Matrika" was recorded at Organic Sounds studios in Calgary, and was released to excellent reviews. Space Junkies Mag gave it 10+ out of 10, while Bands United described it as "Disturbingly fresh". The album has been critically acclaimed and has earned them positive reviews in many magazines & websites, as well as spots on CBC television and Skratch Magazine. Inner Surge's "Matrika" also made Punkcanada.net's "Top 10 of 2004" list alongside 36Crazyfists, Alexisonfire, Killswitch Engage and Rise Against. "Matrika" found the band reworking their sound, making it tighter and more hardhitting.

Inner Surge has played many shows including the "Rock against Racism 2002" concert in Calgary, the annual Christmas charity concert at the Warehouse/Underground and headlined the annual CJSW 90.9 Metal Fundraiser for the station's annual funding drive in 2005, as well as organized it's own benefit concerts for charities such as Operation Eyesight Universal and the Evan Shaw Foundation.

Inner Surge will tour across Canada with former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Dianno this September. Inner Surge will also play in Calgary for Warped Tour 2006 at Vans City Speedway alongside Helmet, Underoath, Moneen and AFI.

The band will also be featured on the official movie soundtrack for horror film "Cabras" alongside New Crash Position, The Morning After, Cede, Lauren Briant and Bizarre from Eminem's band D-12. Directed by Fredy Polania, the film is due for release in 2007. Inner Surge was also featured in the new book by Garry Sharpe-Young "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" alongside Dillinger Escape Plan, Mudvayne, Mastodon, and Norma Jean. The band has also appeared on many compilation CD's and DVD's including Canadian metal compilation the Fire Union, Skratch Magazine, where Inner Surge appears alongside Epitaph recording artists Converge and Hot Water Music, political DVD release "When Today Becomes Tomorrow", CrankSpiv Records Volume 8 and 9, SWRecords Alt/Metal comp, Atom Sounds Records, Synaptic Graffiti's latest release and Funender Music. Inner Surge is promoted by Cyclone Records, Platform 12, AFB Promotions, Atom-Sounds Records and M-Promotions.

Inner Surge's newest album is the groundbreaking "Signals Screaming", an 11 track assault on human rights abuses and the end of the international "blind eye". Due for release April 1 2006 through Cyclone Records, the message is proof that Inner Surge believes people can provoke change, and that there is still time to do so. "Signals Screaming" is being hailed as "one of the most essential metal albums of the year" from "one of Canada's most promising and most modern-sounding metal bands out there today." Inner Surge's intense and honest sound has given the band a fast-growing following, and with plans for a new album on the horizon, the word is sure to spread.
Entertainmentnutz.com says "Check out Inner Surge because they are quickly gaining steam and could burst out of the belly of the underground with this release."

Albertametal.net says "Signals Screaming is a huge statement, it is saying that Inner Surge is here, and they are here to stay."

Your influences?
They vary, but I generally admire artists who take risks or speak their own truth. I admire Zach de la Rocha, Dead can Dance, Refused, Dillinger Escape Plan, Katatonia, Public Enemy, Amen, the Anti-Doctrine, Skinny Puppy, At the Drive In, Nirvana, Sepultura, Nine Inch Nails, Jeff Buckley, Tool, Sinead O' Connor among many others.
Also, Calgary & Edmonton bands like Section VIII, Gate, the Failure, Screams of Silence, the Martyr Index, Passado, Kilbourne, Blacksky, Caveat, and Sittin'Idol inspire us to do what we do.
Equipment used:
Whatever sounds good to me...It has to be crisp and clear...Marshall amps and fender or Godin guitars give me a sound that I like. I'll hold off on the plugs though until it's worth my while.
Anything else...?
