I've been writing for over thirty years, I'm almost getting to the fruits of maturity! This music of mine is generally melodic and poppy.
In addition to this page, check out The Tweaky Twins. That's Marge McKinnis and myself demoing our songs. Then there's Mr Melody, me in my more ambient-jazz frame of mind. Rick Norton or "Rino" is in the pop section, he does some songs I've co-authored. Finally the upcoming DeShayna, with whom I co-write.

Why this name?
My parents chose it for me. I fancied calling myself "DJ E", or "Death Babies", but they insisted on using my father's surname and putting "John" in front.
Do you play live?
I don't play live anymore since getting motor neurone disease. I was always more of a songwriter, anyway. Used to be in a rock group one time, and later on a folk dance band. Happy days!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not sure about that. I think I read somewhere that record companies are full of people giving money to talented musicians...
Your influences?
Lionel Richie, Stevie Winwood, Beatles, Michael MacDonald, Elgar. Too many people. See if after fifty-four years you can come up with a snappy answer to "What sort of music do you like?"
Favorite spot?
The Ridgeway, an 80-mile footpath running through Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I did 60 miles of it in one overnight session not so many years ago. Now I'll never crack it!

Band In A Box, Cakewalk, Acid Music, Yamaha QYs, guitar, anything legal considered.
