A solo project exploring electric and acoustic bass, utilising drum loops, samples and spoken word.
Also on the page are some tracks by bands I've played in.
Why this name?
Barry Beatmaster- an alias I used for Bootlegging/mashups purposes eg. DaftEminem & Benny's Gay Bar, and stuck with for this project.
Do you play live?
with bands as listed in band history.
see live events for forthcoming gigs.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it allows people to offer their music to others all over the world, independent of current trends and record company interference.
musicians can find an audience for their music without having to conform to the wishes of radio stations, record label people or any of the creativity-stifling restrictions of the traditional, quickly-becoming obsolete music industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
yes, give me a huge advance, stretch limos etc. now.
(that's said with a heavy dose of irony, for those whose heads the joke soared over- huge advances are a thing of the past- and as for stretch limos- they're a waste of artists' earnings, and they're hardly exclusive anyway, are they?)
Band History:
I've played bass with various bands including Justin Dempsey, Instant Flight, Fausto, The Now, The Juice, Ian De Sylva and currently rock/pop covers band Last Orders.
also got a diploma in sound engineering, music technology and music business studies from Gateway, Kingston university.
