Former Atlantic Records artist 2NU delivers a stunning follow-up, to their critically acclaimed
Billboard Top 100 Hit "This is Ponderous".
Billboard Top 100 Hit "This is Ponderous".
Why this name?
We hadn't formally formed as a band when our first song was getting airplay in 1990. When one of the jocks introduced our song, THIS IS PONDEROUS, he said it was from a band too new to even have a name. Thus came the moniker...2NU.
Do you play live?
We are not currently performing live.
If you make it big..?
We had a Billboard Top 100 Single Hit...a major label contract...the manager...all the trappings. But the most rewarding thing was the fans who still remember and support us 10 years later. We simply want to keep making great music.
Band History:
In a move that is becoming more and more common these days, former Atlantic Records artist 2NU, has decided to take advantage of the Internet's pro-Indie mood and release their next offering via cyberspace only, on their own label NU Music.
OK, just imagine Frank Zappa, Bob Marley, Gil Scott-Heron and Joan Osborn getting together to write some new music and then hiring George Lucas and Mel Brooks produce and mix it.
But don't be fooled, 2NU also has a distinct, serious thread that is present in every song. They use the humorous bits to lock you in, but the compelling underlying messages are as deep as you can get; with class and style. The performance, writing and production are flawless and the sonic specs are excellent.
The 12 song LP presents the far broader range of this unique group. Still present are the surrealistic story telling, spoken-word songs such as THE SUBMARINE, THE LEGEND and THE ISLAND. However this highly produced work introduces a more serious side of 2NU with songs such as ZEN'D LULLABY, a sobering statement in light of tragedies such as the school shootings in Arkansas, Colorado and Atlanta or the reflective nature of A FATHER'S DAY and 32.
