Band/artist history
The band has a nice history to it. Dave Byers and Dave Halfhill are longtime friends from high school and played together in several bands over the years playing all across the area. Pat and Larry are good friends of Dave's for years also. They'd played with Dave while Dave was doing solo gigs a few summers back. John is a nephew of Pat and Larry's. Zach is Dave Byers's son and Bill Vassar is the soundman at Pat and Larry's church where they are a part of the praise team at House of Prayer church in Calcutta ohio. Dave Byers, Pat and Larry Wolf enjoyed being a band together and wanted to continue playing music. So Dave Byers recruited his old pal Dave Halfhill into the band as drummer. Wanting a strong vocal presence the band then asked John Chevront to be their lead vocalist. Summer of 2008 was filled with the band growing together and performing throughout the season. Zach Byers filled a larger role drumming for the band. The band now looks to 2009 to release their first original CD. We as the 3:16 band really enjoy playing at churches, fairs and festivals because it gets out among many different people. Music outside is always fun and we love to play gospel music to people in a contemporary way that many people aren't used to hearing. The music is contemporary but the message is the same message that has survived throughout time that God loves us and has a plan for our lives. Mark 16:15-16 "He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned'" 1 Corinthians 9:16 reads "For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for necessity is laid upon me; for woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel." God brings change in a powerful way. Isaiah 1:18 says "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool." As Christians we will tell you that we are certainly not perfect. Christians sometimes get that stereotype that they think they are perfect. Let us tell you that we are not implying that at all but that He (God) is perfect and we have found immeasurable joy in knowing Him and we simply wish to share that joy with others. Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." So we'd be silly to say that we are anything other than musician's who love God and want to play music together to His glory. 1 Corinthians 1:31 "Therefore, as it is written, 'Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.'" So we boast in the Lord and hope that His joy is also in you or that you will give Him a chance to intercede in your life and make a major impact in your life. Psalm 92 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

Purpose of the 3:16 band Thanks for your interest in the 3:16 band. Our purpose is to glorify and praise the King of King's, and the Lord of Lord's. Of course our name comes from the popular verse in John chapter 3 and verse 16 that reads "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." NIV John 3:16 is one of the most widely quoted verses from the Bible. It has been called the "Bible in a nutshell" because it is considered a summary of some of the most central doctrines of traditional Christianity. The verse occurs in the third chapter of John taking place in Jerusalem. Nicodemus, a member of the ruling council, comes to talk with Jesus, whom he calls Rabbi. Jesus' "miraculous signs" have convinced Nicodemus that Jesus is "from God." In reply, Jesus declares, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" (verses 56). John 3:16 summarizes Jesus' lesson to Nicodemus: that belief in Jesus is the path to eternal life. In this passage, Jesus proclaims himself the Messiah and lays out important aspects of Christian theology. So our aim in calling the band 3:16 is first to make it obvious that the band is a gospel band. But also to keep our focus and the focus on our reason to deliver God's message to us all. That He chose to send His son to die on the corss and pay for our sins. He did not want any of us to perish and by paying for our sins through Jesus He has given us the way to Him. Jesus has been made our sacrifice so that we would be made acceptable to spend eternity with Him. Now of course each person has the decesion to accept this love or reject it. To accept God's Lordship, to recognize Him as their Lord and savior or to deny God His place in their life and live for themselves. In John 3:3 Jesus declare, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." So we encourage you to take a look at article "get saved" and if you have not already, begin reading God's word daily. Attend a church where God is preached and praised and you feel, through prayer, that God wants you in. Pray to Him daily and ask for His direciton in your life. Put Him first in all things and expect God to move and work in your life. Praise Him and spread the good news of how God can change your life when you open up to Him. As Isaiah 1:18 says "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD."Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." So when you see the 3:16 band, you see a group of friends who love the Lord and are attempting to testify to God's love and awesome work. We are attempting to glorify and praise the magnificent God who created all things and has changed our lives and given us a new life in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" NIV We will leave you with one last set of verses: Psalm 150: 1 Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
