I am now also producing music under another music alias: See you there!
My name is Marwan Mohd Zahari, a 20 years old Malaysian who is currently studying for Internet Technologies majoring in multimedia. As part of my hobbies, I create music.
Some people are gifted enough that they can produce a track for every few weeks or less. As for me, however, composing takes time, and I might end up not producing another song for many months. Sorry if I ended up not uploading anything here for a very long time.
On March 10th, 2003, I registered as a band here in SoundClick.com so that I can show-off some of my compositions. Some of my much older songs here can also be found at www.modarchive.com in IT module format. (Use ModPlug only to play them!) All of my songs there starts with the prefix "znm-".
Okay. So the real reason why I decided to start uploading MP3s from this point on is because I'm now beginning to use those VST effect plugins more often now as I'm now more advanced than before that I wanted my songs to sound as closely professional-sounding as possible. Releasing the original IT might cause a problem because not everyone uses those same plugins that the original composer had used for those songs.
Remixes are welcome! ^_^ Please inform me if you have done any remixes of my songs.
It began one day that changed my perception of music forever. I bought this CD software called Techno eJay. The software allows even beginners without musical knowledge to create music by arranging premade samples in the pattern area. The program is great, but I needed more. The program simply doesn't meet my tastes, and my creativity is limited to the number of premade samples included in the program.
Then, one day, I found out about ModPlug Tracker by accident. I downloaded the program, and already I started tracking away. Trance is my most favourite genre at that time, so that's the first genre I started out with. As years go by, I developed a lot of different composing techniques in how to make my sounds almost as authentic as the sounds you hear from the professional musicians who create their music from a lot of bulky expansive equipments.
I never played live. Composing music is simply just a hobby for me. In addition, I never even went to any disco clubs at all.
From some of the most popular trance (or electronic dance) DJs around: Paul van Dyk, DJ Tiesto, ATB, Ferry Corsten, Mauro Picotto, Mario Piu, Rank 1, etc.
You might not going to believe me when I say this, but... All of my music composed here are composed using a freeware program called ModPlug Tracker. You can find the software here: While so many former ModPlug Tracker users decided to move on to the more "advanced" music creation softwares like Reason, Fruity Loops, Cubase or Buzz Tracker, I, on the other hand, still stick with ModPlug Tracker, and still kept using it, even today.
I admit that it's quite difficult to compose a very high quality music out of a simple software like this -- In fact, ModPlug Tracker is not even designed for high-quality music productions at all! -- but at least I've managed to prove that, contrary to popular belief, it is indeed possible. All of my music here are directly from the actual unedited mastered output, showing the true capabilities of what ModPlug Tracker can do.
Malaysian trance composers are very rare... I am one of them.
I have a perfect pitch hearing. What it means is that I can tell that someone pressed, for example, E-flat on the piano keyboard without ever looking at the keys. I heard that only a handful of the world population have perfect pitch. Wow... O_O
I have lots of interests in life, not just music alone. I'm also interested in computers, and drawing.
Now, a little bit about my philosophy...
I don't think that trance is the best music genre ever invented... It's just so happens to be the stuff I like to listen a lot. No matter what genre a song is written in, if it sounds very good, then it'll be very good.
"Professional" music hardwares and softwares alone don't instantly turn an artist into a professional artist. This is where I came in... I want to prove to the world that, with enough talent, one should be able to produce professional-quality music with a software as inferior as ModPlug Tracker! (A good example: Me!) I want to shatter that stereotype where you people out there who made an immediate assumption that, just because a person said that he's using a very inferior music software, they immediately assume that their songs must be quite bad, so they refused to listen to them. Please give these guys a chance... Who knows? Maybe, despite the software they're using, the resulting music output is a real masterpiece!
