What's Going On America Part 1

Listen closely as one of the founding fathers of rap makes his trumphant return to the microphone.
Count Coolout, born and raised on the mean streets of NYC, was one of the first five rap artists in the game. He began in late 1979 as a dancer and background vocalist for Jimmy Super Rhymes Spicer. Then in 1980 Count went on to release his first solo song Rhythm Rap Rock. This song was so ahead of its time that many in the business had no idea as to how to market it. As such, the record was basically just put on the store shelves. Much to everyone’s surprise...that was all they needed to do. For the song charted practically overnight on all the major charts, including Cashbox and Billboard. In 1981 Count went on to release the successful follow up Here To Stay on WMOT Records out of the Philadelphia area. Then in 1982 Count, being the innovative person that he is, released the rap worlds first live recording Touch The Rock. For those who were fortunate enough to catch a Coolout live performance, know for sure that the Double RR Man had no limits to his performance routine. From appearing on stage within a puff of smoke in full Dracula garb to theatrical plays between each song; the Count was definitely ahead of his time. In 1983, Count went on to work with Skip Henderson of The Vanguard Band in hopes of bridging the gap between the worlds of rap and rock & roll. But once again, due to his innovative form of thinking, Count was far ahead of his time. However, in the late eighties he was rewarded when his old buddy Russell Simmons collaborated with Rick Rubin, Run DMC and Aerosmith to successfully release the updated version of Walk This Way. Over the years, while Count has not recorded on himself, he has remained semi-active in the business through ghost writing and providing advice for many young people desiring to enter into the business. Even while concentrating on acquiring his degree in law, Count has never been far away from his first love...the world of music. Now, with the founding of JaThom Records, he is prepared to make a triumphant return to that which he loves with all his heart and soul. The main focus of his new label will be to give the independent artist and label a chance to receive the recognition that which they deserve. As such, he is currently reaching out to all independent artists for projects to be considered for release on the new label. One of the first projects to be released this coming Summer will be on his young cousin's group, The Az-One Project, out of Orlando, Florida. He will also soon be releasing two new cuts from himself that deal with the present state of things in the world today. One thing for sure, be it writing, rapping, producing or performing whatever Count Coolout is involved with, it is certain to be unique, refreshing, entertaining and innovative as always.
