Asylum is a heavy rocking band from Omaha.
From the start, Asylum wanted to approach the entire project with a larger than life show. we're definately not modest. each member is a veteran player that dates back as far as 1985. we have spent several years honing our skills and building the courage to succeed in the business. realizing for the first time that as a unit we had the perfect songwriting chemistry, we descended upon omaha knowledge that most bands were emulating their favorite bands. we however stuck to our guns and waded through with our heads held high. with guitarist Rob Black delivering a bluesy metal crunch that runs like muddy water in a louisiana swamp, and Dave Cervantes stapling his own unique brand of bass slap to the songs, it gave drummer G S an unmeasureable field of chaos to play in. All was packaged with a lunitic vocalist who delivers stabbing, powerful words of injustice. Once the project was underway we brushed off the heavy critisms about how we couldn't succeed in such a saturated market and took to the streets preaching the gospel that true rock isn't dead, it just lays unused under six inches of dust. Our first six months were tiring as we pushed on with little response. No one wanted to touch us, it was all way too out of control, our onstage performance was a bit to graphic for most. Alot of equip got destroyed, generally because it was what ridley was feeling onstage at the moment. at first it was all perceived as a gimmick or a rip off if you will. But then a funny thing happened, kids and bands alike started to pay attention to what was being played, the words spoken and some how, little by little Asylum was becoming more then a whisper, we were a working band keeping up with some of the best. Heads started turning our direction, some venues tried to shut us out, but all in all we have become what we wanted on our own terms. No cliques, no begging, just a determined hardcore rock band with a dark bitter past. This band has seen ghastly wars, death, cold cells, and the demise of innocence. So what you infact see on stage at an Asylum show is 100% raw, untapped aggression. No rip offs, just four guys from nowhere in America, with passion and retribution in their eyes.
We are playing in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. We are currently working on a Midwest tour.
