Band/artist history
Feeling left out is a heartfelt duo from northern New Jersey. Armed with stories of betrayal, relationships, and life experiences, they are developing a strong and diverse following of listeners all across the country. FLO was formed to provide an outlet for Bill and Joe to work together again. At the time of formation, Joe was in a band called Welcome Home Travis and Bill was not working with anyone. They decided to put a band together but knew how hard it was to find a drummer. After looking in Joe's song repertoire, they figured that these songs could be played on acoustics and still carry the same emotion and weight as a song written with a full band. Shortly after the formation, they became a local band in almost every state in the Northeastern US, playing shows regularly in NJ, NY, PA, DE, MA, CT, and NH. Along with playing weekend tours, they have also been racking up miles by touring all over the East Coast. The first venture into the Midwest is underway for the summer of 2003, with a cross country journey still looming in the not so distant future. After taking Bill's trusty Jeep Cherokee on the first March tour and to every weekend tour, they decided it was high time for a band vehicle. The road was taking its toll on the Jeep, and FLO was realizing more and more that sooner or later, they would need to get a van anyway. Enter 1988 GMC Safari. The first songs FLO ever recorded were 4 demo tracks released on Double Kick Records titled, "Running On Empty". It was recorded in April of 2001, only a few months after they formed. It was recorded in about 8 hours on a shoestring budget and it shows. The next ep, "Mr. Everything I'm Not" was recorded the following September. After going through a rough end to a long term relationship, Joe decided to put to song everything that he was going through in hopes someone could relate. Those songs were released as apart of the "Mr Everything I'm Not" ep. It has sold out of its initial pressing strictly by word of mouth, and internet distribution. They took a year off from recording to write new material and play enough shows to get their name on the lips of every kid in the scene. When they hit the studio again, they had a new mindset. "Wish Me Luck" was recorded in September of 2002, almost a year to the day of "Mr. Everything I'm Not". As a band they've gone through some new experiences between both recording sessions. While still dwelling in the past a bit, Joe has shifted the theme of his lyrics a full 180 degrees. They've grown individually and collectively and this growth is evident on "Wish Me Luck". Then the record label stepped in. On a whim, Joe put together a press kit and sent it off to LLR Recording Co. FLO were surprised to hear that LLR had already been big fans for years. After months of talking and a few different contracts, the boys signed on the dotted line and they were ready to release a real CD on a real record label. LLR suggested that they compile all of their older material and release it on one huge CD. Joe had just opened up the FLO Recording Studio with his brother so it made sense to re-record the older songs to make them sound as good as possible. These songs are apart of a 14 song CD titled, "Two to the Chest to Remember, One to the Head to Forget" due out by August of 2003. FLO has played quiet acoustic shows with the likes of Dashboard Confessional, The Lyndsay Diaries, and Seville as well as punk rock shows with bands like Taking Back Sunday, Autopilot Off, Hey Mercedes, The Beautiful Mistake, Miracle of 86, and The Rocking Horse Winner. They also showcase their own shows, usually at colleges/coffeehouses where they are the only band playing for hours on end. The main reason for FLO forming was to have a reason for Bill and Joe to play together again. As long as both of them have air in their lungs, FLO will be together in one way or another.
