Percussion legend Louie Romero has appeared on five gold records and two platinum records. Born in Brooklyn, he began playing percussion at the age of seven, inspired by his father Juan. Louie began appearing on the New York salsa scene in the 1960s. In 1967, famous trombonist and bandleader Willie Colon asked Louie to join his band after seeing him perform at New York's Broadway Casino. Louie was soon playing with the best musicians from salsa's famed Fania record label, including Hector Lavoe and Ruben Blades. When Colon's band broke up in 1977, Louie continued playing with other Fania groups, eventually recording over 20 albums for the label. He then expanded into folkloric music and jazz, playing with greats like Paquito D'Rivera. Paul is a full time musician who plays both guitar and saxophone. He has played with Levon Helm and backed up Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and others while working with Levon, as well as having played with Rick Danko and Garth Hudson. He's also worked with jazz legends the likes of Jimmy McGriff, Hank Crawford, and Jack DeJonette. Other bands include Orleans, Robbie DuPree as well as numerous local and regional acts on both the East and West Coasts. He is comfortable in all styles and has achieved an equal level of proficiency on both guitar and sax. Patricio Angulo has lived in the Bay Area for the last 10 years. Band/artist history
We played for about 5 years in S.F. as an R&B show band. Then I stopped playing and the others, as you can tell, continued doing tours etc. I called on my old friends to try it again and thankfully they all find the time to come and play this incredible Latin Jazz and Salsa music with me. This time I am stepping into some deep stuff. As Latin Jazz and Salsa are extremely demanding forms of music. I am really fortunate to know the musicians on these tunes and very grateful that they have come together with me in this endeavor. All of them are legends of Jazz, Salsa and Latin Jazz. Thanks guys for putting up with me... Art Stavro Bass
