prinsesa a local band which was accidentally formed during a University musical event. the name as it represents was derived from the City's famous legend -The Princess of the Ports. the tragic love story inspires the songwriter to pen lyrics for unrequited, unconditional love of a woman...... the music of prinsesa is one never ending story of enduring love tested by time and perseverance, traits that are less important nowadays... -- a simple local band from Puerto Princesa City.
Band/artist history
In March, 2008 at PMAG University JAm Event, talulot brought along with her, her acoustic guitarist Poypoy and her brother Sherwin to jam with her and to showcase her new original songs, these original songs were different from what she usually performs, thus the need of her buddies. Fortunately, during the event, the bassist Emil (who also was a brother in YFC) and the drummer Jacob (who was her 'alaga' in freeplay band) came and volunteered to jam with her impromptu in the said event. And alas, an instant band performed, albeit no practice, before an interested crowd. Among the original songs they performed was Kulang, Di na and Prolong. Talulot took interests in pursuing the group as she wanted to start a local band that plays original songs. Thus, again in mid march of the same year, the band was invited to do front act for the iloveyouruby concert, which the group obliged. There and then, the PRINSESA emerged. After a month, the band started to record their first single, (though not first song of Talulot). The song Kulang was their first ever child birth as a group. The song hit the airwaves and though it was a local production, it landed 9th in the monthly ratings after 2 months of airplay in the local radio stations. The band's genre is a combination of alternative, acoustic rock, jazz beat and world sound. The songwriter aims to fuse their musical elements and influences in their own music, making different sound in the local music industry. Apart from the influences of fusion, talulot's lyrical talents pen most of the endearing stories of love telltales which sometimes invisible to the ears of many. Compared to other bands, prinsesa is not a regular local band, as the other members are still students and professional musician, they do not have regular gigs but they do perform in concerts if they are asked to or invited. Talulot dwells more to present prinsesa as a recording artists. Future plans- Prinsesa had done a dozen songs already, ready to be recorded yet, as the producer lacks financial ability, the target is to record one single at a time to produce an EP at the end of this year. Target project for the year of 2010 Selos: January DIna: February Prolong: March Kailan Muli: May Hawla: June Songwriter: July Sa piling mo: August Band Members: Prinsesa Talulot: Lead Vocals/songwriter/producer John Paul Cabotaje: lead guitarist/back-up vocals Sherwin Gianan: Acoustic/rythm guitarist/back-up vocals Emil Vito: bassist/back-up vocals Jaycob Miagao:drummer
Have you performed in front of an audience?
yes. we did a front act for Bamboo's special concert at the JCI National Conference last Oct, we also did a gig during Iloveyouruby's concert and PMAG's OPM concert.
Your musical influences
i love diversity.. but my influences rooted from phil progressive music, underground pinoy rock, classical jazz, big band jazz, 80's sound, country, some blues, ballads, classical pinoy music, world music, ethno-cultural music, folk rock, alternative, acoustic, christian and choir music to pop rock, pop ballad, pop jazz. and then fused them together to create new one....
