I am a solo artiste and have been most of the time through the years. I no longer perform in public due to a lung disease. However, I do try and keep up with my composing skills and enjoy exercising my lungs through actively taking part in a karaoke site online. I have written quite a few songs in the past but I have only managed to produce one so far on cd.
Singing, music has always played a vital part of my life from a very early age. I always used to sing around the house from about the age of 4, 5, was always in every school choir. Joined a youth choir in a church I belonged to and yes, we got on "Songs Of Praise" LOL. I then performed in the clubs up and down the North West of England mainly. I emmegrated to South Africa for a few years and had the pleasure of performing on the same show as Paul Simon, Wayne Fantana, Eddie Calvert (don't think anyone will know who he is LOL ) . Came to Scotland in 1979 and formed a band called "My Generation". Found that it was harder finding gigs as most venues worked through agents, I hardly ever used them and still don't like them. LOL. I was diagnosed with COPD (Emphysema) in 2002 and thought my singing days were over. Came across a karoke site online where I sang and started to strengthen my voice again. I can do a fair job, even though I say so myself. I love the folk that use the site and have found some fantastic voices there. I hope to reproduce some of the songs I have written in the past and hopefully get them heard.
I have occasionally performed in karaoke and tested a song out there once. It went down better than I expected, so really want to do more if I can.
Country, folk, spiritual, ballads, more or less are the genre of my compositions.
I used to play rhythm guitar mainly when I was younger, but since diagnosed with the lung condition, I purchased a yamaha organ and taught myself enough to form backing tracks for my songs.
I look forward to meeting people on soundclick and listening to artistes music.
