I have been playing and writing songs for more years than most of you have been alive. I started classical piano when I was 8, 12-string guitar when I was ten, and wrote my first song when I was 16. I am largely self-taught, but have benefitted greatly from the many bands I've played with over the years. I've also been an avid listener of music, and sought to incorporate many different styles into my songwriting.
As you will hear, my songs reflect the fact that I've been many places and done many things other than just play music. They have, in the original sense of the word, character.
I have been the keyboardist for the Boise Blues Society, and sat in with a number of good blues bands. I've also played solo with guitar and piano, and plan to be doing so again in the Oklahoma City area. And, yes, I love it. Special moments? A dance floor full of people at a native American wedding outside of Edmund, Oklahoma. A group of people singing my songs at the top of their voices.
John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, the Beatles, the BeeGees, Ambrosia, Neil Young, the Allman Brothers, Lynrd Skynrd, Jim Croce, the Carpenters, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, etc. Pink Floyd, Led Zep, ELO, Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton. Basically, music that got radio play, 'cause those were the songs I wanted to play.
