Rhythm and Rhyme featuring Suave Gotti

A musical collaboration which encompasses a wide variety of musical styles while always maintaining a distinctive style of it's own. The key word is collaboration as each of the members of the Reid Project bring something unique to the table and provide a sense of energy and urgency to the music. The range of material is very wide and listeners can expect to hear anything from funk to jazz to blues to rock. Lonnie Reid (guitar and backup vocals): Lonnie played in a number of R&B and fusion bands in the early eighties before taking a twelve year hiatus from performing. Returned to the live music scene when he joined Bluelite Special. Shortly afterwards he and Terry Reid (Reid Brothers) along with Butterscotch collaborated to form The Reid Project. Benny Mostella (trumpet, lead and backgroud vocals): Benny aka BJ is a truely gifted musician. Has worked with a number of jazz combos and worked with legendary bluesman Ropbert Lockwood Jr. before joining the Reid Project. Had he been born fifty years earlier you would probably be reading about him in the jazz history books. Tim Jackson (bass): A truley gifted and original bassist. Man this guy can flat out play!! We are very fortunate to have found Tim and we are looking forward turning up the wick now that we have found him. Keith Daniels (drums): Long time area r&b drummer and his resume is entirely to long to list. Let's just say he is the energizer. Special Guests Terry Reid: Bass, guitar and vocals Bob Frey: Saxophones Scott Smith: Vocals Suave Gotti: Rap
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play out 8 to 12 time a month and that is plenty for us. One gig that we have done for almost nine years is a musicians night at a club called the House of Swing and over the years we have had some great players come in and sit in. Bassist Bill (Budda) Dickens has come in, jazz great Bobby Few has sat in, and Pierre Sward the great organist from Sweden has sat in with us on Thursday nights. You can see some photos from Thursday nights at this link (http://www.reidgroup.freeyellow.com/reidproject/house.html).
Your musical influences
Wow,what a question! Being a guitar player I would have to say that the earliest influence for me was Jimi Hendrix and as I started listening to more and more rock I eventually found Jeff Beck who just blew me away. Later on I got into fusion and the guys like Bill Conners (Stanley Clarke and Return to Forever) and Ray Gomez. One day I heard George Benson after he released the Breezin album and my life was changed as I then began to appreciate the warm round tone and complex chord voicings of the jazz players (I didn't say I could play it but I did apprcciate it).
What equipment do you use?
I have quite a bit of equipment and as far as guitars are concerned you can see some of my guitars at: http://www.reidgroup.freeyellow.com/reidproject/Lonnie.html
Anything else?
The new CD 'Four on the Floor' is a labor of love. We as a band have been in the trenches together for quite a while and for this project we wanted contributions from everyone in the band which made the project very exciting.
