The award winning band The Folk Pistols was founded in 1994 by Frenchy Burrito to showcase Frenchy's offbeat original songwriting as well as to spice up great covers by Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, John Prine, TVZ, Loudon Wainwright, Tom Waits and others. Over the years the cast of musicians has varied (sort of like being in the French Foreign Legion of music) Currently new/old recordings/films are in the works.
Band/artist history
Frenchy Burrito And The Folk Pistols were the offshoot of a streetband that made a music video about street people, that then became a club band, and now is a streetband again... (the video got aired nationally)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Only at knifepoint.
Your musical influences
Townes Van Zandt, Loudon Wainwright III, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Steve Goodman, John Lennon, Fred Neil, Eric Andersen, Keith Sykes, Paul Seibel.
What equipment do you use?
Sadly the D-35 Martin that I bought in 1972 is long gone. Currently I'm playing a 1998 Martin HD D-28 Herringbone which aint bad.....
Anything else?
Don't forget to tip the streetsingers!
