The Polo Hypocrisy plays brutal melodic death with an uplifting twist. We therefore call it life metal.
Band/artist history
In the fall of 2004, three musicians gathered for the simple goal of playing music together. Eric Maddalena, who began playing music as a child, always had a passion for music, especially heavy music. Starting at age 8 by playing classical piano, he shifted to the bass in his teenage years after discovering rock and metal. This led to his first band, known as many names, lastly Misfall, along with some high school friends, namely David Greco on guitar and Alex Greco on vocals. The band quickly made a name for itself within its high school due to their high energy performances. However, like a high school romance, the band dissolved after graduation. Left without music for many years, Eric became restless. In the meantime, two other music lovers began to further their love by picking up an instrument. Danny Sanchez, who was heavily into bands such as Korn, Rage Against The Machine and The Red Hot Chili Peppers could not ignoring the distinctive bass coming from these bands, which lead him to pick up the bass guitar. Derek Propetto, whose musical talent seems to run in the family, his dad a drummer of over 30 years and his sister an up and coming singing talent, followed his father's path and started playing drums. Eric began jamming with both of them separately, switching to guitar to do so. As time went by, the natural combining of the two happened and the three of them began jamming by September 2004. Without a proper singer, Eric took up vocal duties for the time being. Soon after, David was asked to join the band, giving it a whole new direction. As time went by, original material started to come together and their musical direction began clear; to blur the lines between brutal death metal and rock melodies to produce a fresh new sound. However, that sound wasn't being achieved with Eric on vocals. Enter Alex Greco back into the picture, a talented, versatile singer and writer. With this addition, The Polo Hypocrisy was complete and ready for their first show, aptly named An Evening with the Polo Hypocrisy. Since that first show on May 7, 2005, TPH have played more shows and written more songs, continuing to make a name for themselves in Montreal. With a sound that can be described as equal parts of melodic death, metalcore and traditional 8O's thrash and power metal, a bright future awaits them in the metal world. Expect their first official studio release in summer 2006.
