Walter Garland and Joe Alford were members of The Collin Raye Band for many years and began writing songs on the tour bus and in hotel rooms. We want YOU to record our songs and make them hits, so that we all can make a little bit of money in this crazy business! We are members of BMI as a publishing company and as songwriters.
We're technically not a band, but just some guys that used to play music together and wrote some songs and started a publishing company.
I (Joe) play around Nashville, Tennessee with a couple of Classic Rock Bands. Walter is into computers and lives somewhere in The Carolinas.
I like to call the songs that Walter and I wrote Cosmopoliton Country. But out site also has Classic Rock, Blues Rock, Christian Country, Acoustic, and Film Music.
We recorded most of our songs on a Roland VS880 in a spare bedroom in Walter's house. Walter and Larry Volz are computer/techno/gadget geniuses and actually did most of the work. They are also a couple of guitar playing, singing "bitches"! I (Joe) just came up with song ideas, played bass guitar and made coffee. Some of the songs were obviously recorded in "real" studios.
The Rock & Roll songs by George Lee & Joe Alford date back to the mid-1970's. The sound quality, etc. pretty much gives that away, but I've always loved these songs and thought that I'd share them with you. I(Joe)worked with Carol Littrell and her husband Charlie from 1980 to early 1984 and we wrote a few songs. We played the Chelsea Street Pub restaurant chain under various band names. Some of the Larry Volz songs were recorded around 1980 and some a few years after that. Larry wrote, arranged, produced, engineered, played all instruments and sang all vocal parts without the help of computer editing programs. (They weren't available then)...Amazing! Anything that sounds like editing on his songs is probably something that I did to shorten the songs. I met Michael J. Cross in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1984. We both are bass players and songwriters and we became good friends in the year and a half that I lived there. Michael is in the Austin, Texas area these days. Some of his songs are from the 84-85 period and some are pretty recent. The songs by Mike Johnson were recorded in Nashville, Tennessee in the early 1990's with his band, Where's Zelda? Capricorn Records showed interest in the group and even set up a date for a "showcase", but they left Nashville before that date. Once again, that's the story of our musical lives...So close, yet so far away...
