Jerry Matthews was a mainstay in the Houston/Gulf coast area music scene for more than 50 years. Whether it was a T.V or Radio performance, one of his many club & private appearances, or every Sunday morning as worship Pastor at his church.
Sadly, Jerry was called home to be with the Lord on February 22,2007 at the age of 70. This world lost a truly gifted and Godly man, father, husband and musician on that day. However, The wonderful legacy he left behind and the music he created will forever continue in this world.

If you're a long time listener of Jerry's music, we don't need to say anymore!!
Jerry Matthews knew at a young age he was born to play the piano. As a teenager he won multiple talent contests on both radio and TV. He soon found himself signed to a record deal. He released the single "Lonely Dreamer" on "Kool" records in the late 1950's. That single gained him national attention with Billboard magazine giving it a 4 star review.
He achieved radio play in the south Texas area from Houston to San Antonio.
This journey would lead him to playing clubs from rural areas of south Texas to Houston during the 1960's and 1970's and in the 1980's he went on to become a main stay in the Houston area country club circuit.
From the 1950's through the early 2000's Jerry could be found performing an average of 4-5 nights per week somewhere in the Houston area. He also performed countless concerts in churches and special Christian events. He released many gospel CD's and served as worship director at several church's for more than 50 years.
Jerry has performed for the "Trinity Broadcasting Network" in addition to local christian programming on Houston's ABC affiliate. He had a very special performance in the summer of 2004. He was asked to be a guest performer at the Republican campaign tour when it came through town.
Jerry was also very passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and his family. He became an ordained minister in 1990 and along with his wife Mary founded and pastored "Living Faith Church" in Waller TX. After 3 successful years, Jerry and Mary were offered an opportunity to join forces with "Trinity Worship Center" in Houston, TX. in 1993. They accepted and remained there until their passing. (Mary went home to be with the lord on April 13,2005.) Jerry and Mary were married for 45 years and had two daughters (Sharon & Brenda) and one son (Stephen) who strive to continue carrying on their amazing legacy.
Although he is no longer with us on this earth, Jerry's music and legacy remains and his fan base still continues to grow through the internet, radio airplay and CD sales.
Floyd Cramer was one Jerry's earliest and most significant influences. His unique style caught his attention immediately and proved inspiring in his development as a pianist.
He also admired the piano talents of Roger Williams and Liberace.
Every piano he could get his hands on!! He also owned an 88 key Kurzweil stage piano and the Roland Fantom X-8 that he composed most of his music on.
