Prince Of Peace

Recorded live 2007-12-24
This site is for two groups (because they both share the same producer). New Light is the contemporary Praise & Worship band with a dose of south coastal bluegrass and rock not heard in common P&W groups. The Chancel Choir is a group of about 35-45 performers doing your traditional ditties
Band/artist history
The Choir has been around since 1938 (?) and plugs along strongly each year. New Light started as a three piece group in 2001 and has grown to include over 14 performers and crew staff, all volunteer members.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Because we are such a diverse group of volunteers, getting us all together into a studio at the same time would be quite the feat so practically all of our material here was performed live!
Your musical influences
Many of our singers participate in the Chancel Choir which gives our group a strong traditional basis. New Light is a recent spin off and since 2001, we have added several musicians with professional Rock and Roll/Rythmn and Blues performance backgrounds allowing our music to become stronger and more diverse. Bluegrass, Country and Folk music also influence our songs.
What equipment do you use?
We're not a techno or electronica band and operate on pretty much a donation based budget. For the Chancel Choir and other simple sessions, good recordings are quite easy using a variety of overhead mics running into an *old* Tangent 8-track submixer and piped to, of all things, a consumer cassette deck recorder! We set this thing up to run routinely and get some surprisingly good recordings this way. Sometimes, we'll grab the signals of the submixer into one of the larger multi-track digital recorders. Our multi-track digital recorders are tapped into patchbays either at the front of the house or at the soundboard in the back. We use all sorts of multi-track recording setups depending on the size and complexity of the performance.
Anything else?
We've come a long way since our humble beginnings and what you see here is a just a small collection of easy-to-share music. We hope you enjoy what you hear.
