Released a critically-acclaimed debut album (Comfort Noise) in 2001. Played around Baltimore and Maryland. Took a long nap.
I've played in NYC in clubs like Folk City, the SpeakEasy, the Village Gate, the Bitter End, and CBGBs.
Then there was a five-year stint in Bay Area California, where I finally kicked the habit (of writing for magazines).
I settled in Baltimore in 2001 and recorded my first album, Comfort Noise. Started sessions for a new album in early 2004, a long, bumpy process that continues to this day....
To paraphrase the Rutles: "The first album was recorded in two hours, the second one took even longer."
Anything and everything from the Beatles to the Pixies, Richard Thompson to Jimi Hendrix, Martin Carthy, Big Bill Broonzy, Joan Armatrading, Moloko, Jack Johnson, Cat Stevens, the Zombies, Massive Attack.
My guitar playing has been compared to acoustic performers like Keller Williams and David Wilcox, which is nice, though I doubt they have my vocabulary.
Fun fact: I'm a former music critic. During the early 90s I wrote album reviews and interviews for such magazines as RayGun, the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, People, and Might. I have since recovered.
