Band/artist history
The Vinegar Tears was created in 2002, in Stockholm, Sweden when Deecon and Jak decided to merge their ideas, of what good music consists of, into a band. Besides being class mates in high school before launching their project, Deecon had a long career in different bands, mostly in the field of rock/hard rock, while Jak was involved in indie and electronic style of music. In the band Jak is handling the keyboards as well as the programming, while Deecon is playing guitar, bass and performing the lead vocals. Since both Deecon and Jak are occupied in other projects, The Vinegar Tears’ working process is somewhat erratic. This means that the songs always comes to life trough different working methods, i.e. through a guitar riff, a programmed drumloop, three chords with a melody, jamming with two guitars etc. The way an initial idea thereafter develop into a full song is a complex process of bouncing musical opinions between the band members in order to build the song piece by piece. The band’s philosophy is to blend different styles of music into a sound landscape that is complex and timeless, where a good melody is always a central component. After being silent for many years Deecon and Jak decided again to compose new material, albeit being in two different parts of the world. The band’s first album ”Autumn Songs” was recorded at the band members respective home studio (doghouse 1 and 2) and ideas were shared over a Dropbox-account. The Vinegar Tears is mainly using Digital Performer as the main DAW (Logic is also extensively used). The album was mixed and mastered at Bravo Studios, Tbilisi, Georgia (during 2014) where the mixing engineer Zviad contributed in shaping and tweaking the final sound on some of the tracks.
