One Hundred Corny Poems

The message on the phone said
She was not at home and
The tone in her voice said it all
Lately she's been feelin' like
A boulder has been takin' its toll
She's the one who's always been there
So it's my turn now
To be the friend who cares
I've got a dozen long stemmed roses
A card from Grandma Moses
A roadmap where the foliage
Is at its peak
A picnic basket drive
To say I'm glad you're in my life
And one hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
One hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
She opened up the door and
The clothing that she wore
Were the same clothes she wore the day before
She smiled when she saw me
And I told her I had another corny poem
She laughed and I knew I was halfway there
For it's my mission now
To show her someone cares
I've got a dozen long stemmed roses
A card from Grandma Moses
A roadmap where the foliage
Is at its peak
A picnic basket drive
To say I'm glad you're in my life
And one hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
One hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
Roses are red
And the leaves on the trees
Don't out number the smiles
You've given me
So change your clothes
Let's hit the road and drive
And I'll read you every poem
That says I'm glad you're in my life
I've got a dozen long stemmed roses
A card from Grandma Moses
A roadmap where the foliage
Is at its peak
A picnic basket drive
To say I'm glad you're in my life
And one hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
One hundred corny poems
Up my sleeve
