Mink-C is a UK based MC. Part of the Black Gestapo crew (the other half being Lionel-B). The Black Gestapo release roughly one song every year, so inbetween these Mink has pressed ahead with solo work.

Its UK Hip-Hop but not as you know it...
Why this name?
The Mink part of Mink-C came from a villain in an old Steven Segal movie. I've been known as that since the late 80s, when I switched from 'Def M the Adjudicator', back when Lionel-B was known as King BFS (Beer, Fags and Sex) and the Black Gestapo were known as the 'Choroflourocarbon MCs'!! Also, my initials pretty much sum up what I'm about...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes music more accessible and allows people to check for a wider range of artists. This kind of site is amazing, but I wish the copyright laws weren't as they are - as hip-hop's foundations are based on other peoples music (but in an evolutionary sense), whereas now you can have a really dope rapper who has to rhyme over some bontempi-style beats and it lets it all down. Thought for the day - Bring back gratuitous sampling! Seriously!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't think so. All I want is for someone, somewhere to feel my music. If that happens, I'm happy and will keep going. If I had a chance to record for a label (not a major) then I would obviously, do it like a shot. But for the time being distribution via the net is working out well, even if I don't earn anything from it
Band History:
Met up with Lionel-B (or L10 as he is often known) back at school, listening to a lot of the early Run-DMC material we made our first tape...hopelessly amateur but the technology wasn't as hot as it is today. After several unreleased tapes we quit for a number of years but when the MP3 revolution arrived (and L10 quit the forces) we got back in the saddle....since then I have completed one unreleased album (Dark and Deadly), and three full released albums ('Prime Minkster', 'Prince of Wales' and 'British sh*** Kicker') and spent much of the early decade winning audio battles. Well, it would be rude not to. Currently working on my new LP which should come out summer 2008, and after that working on a couple of EP projects and finally getting around to releasing the 'proper' Black Gestapo album.
Your influences?
Mainly late 80s/Early 90s MCs such as Kane, Rakim, G Rap and Grand Daddy IU but I draw from so many more recent ones too (Canibus, Demigodz, Black Twang etc). My main influence though is all the say-nothing MCs around today though who have forgotten to entertain. They give me my biggest inspiration!!! ITS ALL ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT. If you want to get all serious, political or emo thats cool, as long as it makes people want to keep listening. If you can't do that, forget it.
Favorite spot?
Nottingham, England (East Midlands is my manor)
Newport, Wales (place of birth and a city thats really starting to kick ass)
NYC (for giving birth to the music I love)
Equipment used:
Apple Macintosh C2D
MIDI Keyboard, Phillips SBC MD690 Mic
Outrageous vocal skills
Anything else...?
Give my sh*** a go. I could be your next favorite MC...
