Tom Kerswill makes mellow acoustic music in Totnes, South West UK. You'll find a lot of dark edges here, and lyrics that will haunt you. But the tunes are catchy in a funny kind of way and will stick inside your head.
Why this name?
It's my name... but on early demos I used to spell it as one word - tomkerswill - and people often introduced me or refered to me as a weird pronunciation that sounded like tom-kas-will... so in new releases I'm careful to separate the words!
Do you play live?
You can catch me at folk clubs, open mic nights and gigs around the South West of England... especially near Totnes!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Not many artists realise this yet, but it's going to be great for small musicians and bands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
More likely a minor Indie label.
Band History:
I've been doing music for ages and ages. I was born in Glastonbury in 1981, lived in Somerset until the age of 18, then moved to Cambridge to go to university.... At that time there wasn't much time to make music. So I made up for it by moving down to Totnes in Devonin 2003. I've been doing music more or less full time since then.
The focus has always remained the same - simple, catchy songs played on acoustic guitar.
