Band History:
Spesimen Biography Info
Andy Crosby started seriously developing his recording and composing techniques while studying computer science at the University of Michigan. Influenced while growing up by the active techno scene in Detroit during the early 90's, he has played many shows in and around southeast Michigan both as Spesimen and as a member of the psyche-rock band Sublimation.
In 1997 he founded the Ann Arbor based Infocalypse Recordings, and has collaborated with such notable musicians as Fanon Flowers(Mechanisms Industries, Cetron, Black Nation), Mike Dykehouse (Mu-ziq, Ghostly Intl), Dennis Desantis (K2O) and Double Helix (Emoticon, Rush Hour.) He continues to record a wide array of sounds, including alt-country, ambient, and electro works, while working professionally as a game and sound designer in the video game industy.
A faithful practicioner of the electric boogaloo, old school electro beats often lay the basis for his tracks, while his sounds are intended to push the boundaries of synthesis technology, exploring the chaotic regions between biology and computing.
