The band started in 1985 as a revolt to the newer music that relied heavily on repetitive beats and electronics. We were inspired by the Rock bands of the 60's and 70's who relied on electric guitars and acoustic drums for their sound.
Why this name?
KUBICAL XPHERE (pronounced Cubical Sphere) is the merging of the infinite with what is man made.
Do you play live?
We have not played live for quite some time, however, we enjoy recording in the studio very much. We're playing to have fun.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Mp3 technology and the internet allows unknown bands access and exposure to new audiences.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the opportunity arose, perhaps. However, we tend to reject the current notion in the industry of image over substance. You'll never see us on MTV.
Your influences?
Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones, The Who,The Doors, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd are all our influences. We don't sound like any of them though.
