"...(Jackson's) intimate voice, engaging lyrics, and sweet acoustic guitar progressions combine to form a pop-flavoured sound that is very pleasant, elegant, and listenable.Motor Scooter is a fine first recording." Gene Wilburn, Northern Journey Online...Says Listen.com "Jackson's introspective, refreshingly cheerful Folk Pop recalls the glory days of James Taylor and Carole King. The sweet-voiced Canadian sings about the pleasures and pains of ordinary life in a quotidian way that draws favorable comparisons to a less countrified Nanci Griffith." Irene also composes music for television...samples available on her Moonstone Productions page.
Why this name?
I think my parents made that choice :-)
Do you play live?
I perform at various venues and events throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Victoria, Vancouver Island, Greater Vancouver, Seattle, and all points in between!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has given me the opportunity to be heard in so many places I couldn't possibly get to.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hmmmm.....
Band History:
I've been a songwriter since 1969, performing in local coffeehouses, festivals, and special events while continuing to work and raise
a family. I was born and raised in the lower mainland of Vancouver, but
I've made Victoria British Columbia, Canada my home since 1983.

I've also written theme music for a number of television series’, including
the internationally syndicated home repair show “Home Check With Shell
Busey”, the SpeedVision series “Canadian Biker Television”, the Global series "Doggin' It" and the television news theme package for CH News Victoria.

I'm also well established as a guitar teacher on Vancouver Island and run the occasional
songwriting workshop, as well as maintaining a webpage for songwriters on
the internet at http://www.irenejackson.com.

I presently have 4 releases, 3 of which are still available for order from my website, and I'm working on a whole slate of new tunes....
Your influences?
The folk/pop idols of the 70's...Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Carole King...and the contemporary sounds of Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kim Richey and the Indigo Girls.
Favorite spot?
Toss up between Victoria, where I now live, and Vancouver, where I grew up.
Equipment used:
I'm not electronica or techno, but I compose straight into Cool Edit Pro using a Delta 1010lt 24-bit soundcard, a Mackie CR1604-VLZ board, dbx compressor/gate, Lexicon MPX100 processor, with Audio Technica, Shure SM58 and AKG C1000s mics, and a lot of creative imagination :-)
Anything else...?
