Born and raised in Southern California, I began playing music in the early 60’s as the drummer in a garage band performing surf tunes and rock ‘n roll at parties and dances. I became interested in the guitar about the same time and, influenced by the folk and rock music of the period, was writing and performing original songs by the Junior year of high school.

After serving in the army then returning home for a few years, I moved to Washington State in 1974 for a different perspective on life than Los Angeles had to offer. There, I became acquainted with country music. In the 1980’s I performed at numerous clubs, lounges and events throughout Okanogan County as a single act, in various duos and as a member of the band Mountain Depot.

Always impressed by the solo efforts of Emitt Rhodes and Paul McCartney, I invested in a Tascam 244 PortaStudio-based home recording facility in 1982 to put my music into recordings. While studying recording engineering I began to record demos for local artists and bands.

In 1989 I acquired an Atari 1040st computer to embellish my recordings with sequencing and to create cover art for distribution cassettes. From there the studio has continued to grow.

Presently living on a modest ranch in the striking high desert of Tularosa Basin in New Mexico, I continue to write and record music. My musical styles range from the Blues to Western, from ballad to rock.
Why this name?
Ease of use! My folks gave it to me at birth...
Do you play live?
I've played live for years and love the rush. I don't play out regularly now but occasionally get before a live mic. I thoroughly enjoy story telling through song writing.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Many, many more independent and amateur artists are able to get their material out to the millions who enjoy alternatives to commercially pushed stuff.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Absolutely not. I will always control my own destiny for better or worse.
...unless, of course, the contract was perfect!
Band History:
See the intro...
Your influences?
Every artist I've ever heard. I write western, progressive folk, blues, progressive rock and pop.
Favorite spot?
In the woods, beside a stream or anywhere in open country.
Equipment used:
Carvin, Tacoma, Epiphone and Fender guitars mainly, with a few other odds and ends. Although I mostly record in the digital domain now, I still prefer analogue for recording acoustic instruments and voice. Glad I never sold the TASCAM half-inch 8 track.
Anything else...?
I believe that songwriters should write for their own creative expression and then for the listening public. Without the passion and drive to create just for creations' sake, the songwriter will only try to please the charts. Good songs come from the heart, good music from the souls of the players and THAT pleases the listening public.
If nobody listened to my songs I'd still write and play because it's part of me.
