Derek Springer has been playing guitar for over twenty years. He's been writing for almost as long.
Why this name?
Because that's my name...
Do you play live?
I play live all around the St. Clair County area with my band, Loaded, and I love every minute of it. Every time I play is special to me.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes it a lot easier for musicians and bands to get a little bit of promotion. It also allows people like Lars Ulrich to have something to bi*** about.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I doubt it. I'd much prefer to release a CD on my own.
Band History:
I've known me all my life, and, as a result, I know when I can work with me and when I can't. The plus side of recording by myself is that there are no other egos to deal with.
Your influences?
Edward Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, and Jimi Hendrix.
Favorite spot?
Fort Worth, Texas.
Equipment used:
I use a custom-made Mean Street Intruder guitar, a Squier Stratocaster, and an OLP MM1. For recording, I use a Tascam 4-track as a mixer and run it directly into my computer, where everything is recorded direct with Sonic Foundry Sound Forge.
