I'm a singer/songwriter from the UK.
Do you play live?
Used to play live when I was in a band. I have less time for rehearsals now, so I just muck around on my own, writing songs and things. Never gigged solo in public, unless you count trees. Never signed, no airplay. You know how it is.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gets your music to a wider audience, though not necessarily the dealmakers.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it meant I could travel when I wanted to and lead my own life then yes, but actually probably no.
Your influences?
Bob Mould, Colin Hay, Crowded House, James Taylor, Elvis Costello, REM, Doves, Buffalo Tom, Counting Crows, Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Beastie Boys, Carol King, Velvet Underground, The Church, Tragically Hip, Liz Phair, Aimee Mann, Francis Cabrel
Favorite spot?
Alaska, New York or home in the Bucks/Berks borders.
Equipment used:
Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, alto saxophone, harmonica, mandolin, banjo, penny whistle, bongos, keyboards, samples and drum machine. I use an ordinary dynamic mic and a digital 4-track machine.
Anything else...?
Not at this point.
