Chiwawa was formed in 1994 by Laurie Gordon and Luc St. Pierre. Krassy Halatchev joined forces with Chiwawa in 1996. The band released their debut album "The Sick World of Yona" in 1998. Grooves from 80 to 160 bpm and mature arrangements, make for a luscious sound scape, topped by singer Laurie Gordon’s distinctive voice. The genre is melodic alternative pop with just the right touch of electronica. Chiwawa tours on a regular basis and are building an ever growing fan base.
Chiwawa has charted on college radio across Canada and are played regularly on CBC radio. The band has been featured in CHOM's L’Esprit Contest, included in a compilation distributed by Universal Canada.
Embraced by the New York City Goth scene, (even though they’re not a Goth band!) Chiwawa was also included in the Trinity Darkcell Compilation.
Chiwawa operates its own record label and recording studio, Satellite Records Canada (with distribution). Their debut album "The Sick World Of Yona", produced by Steve Whitfield (The Cure and The Mission), received many rave reviews from various music trade publications including "The Village Voice".
Consequently, the band has released 2 more albums - "Chimeres" and "Bright". Both of them have attracted noticeable attention from industry peers. The singles "Love's Got Heart", "Below Zero", "Giant", "Trouble With You", Arctic", "Innuendo" and "Busted" among others, were the key to securing a management contract with New York based Key Media Music Group.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Tremendously.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It really depends...
