A lot of times you come to realize that the hardest critic to impress is yourself. With nemico, that is the case by far. This 5 piece Hardcore/Metal band from the Middletown, NY area strives to improve everyday upon themselves, leaving every prior melody they've written in the dust. Everyday Nemico becomes Heavier, More Melodic, and More talented. Though they love writing, the biggest passion comes in their live show. When playing live, Nemico gives nothing less than all that they've got. They began playing in venues around their area like Club Crannell and The Loft in poughkeepsie, church halls, various venues in Suffern and even in Saratoga Springs. They've earned their way up the ladder playing with many bands such as Most Precious Blood, Knives Wide Open, Randall Flagg, Sicks Deep, Iron Maiden Drummer Niko Mcbrain's side project "Mcbrain Damage" and countless others. With a passion that very few hold and After three years of Blood, and sweat, Nemico is finally ready to break loose, and take on the world.
Why this name?
Nemico means Enemy in Italian. it can be interpreted however you want it, we're each an enemy of something or other, and we want to be a part of the movement against it, wether it be racism, politics, abortion, bush, steve....
Do you play live?
Yeah, we try to find different places to play at around the area. poughkeepsie, suffern, and Middletown are our big local areas. To Book us Call Mike at 1-845-309-2283
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
There are pros and cons. The pros go toward independant unsigned bands and the cons move toward the major national bands and record companies. it's very easy now for independant bands to spread the word over the internet, we have fans in california and japan just by being on this website and a few others. however, the mp3 downloading issue is crashing the industry like a drunken pilot. this is seen as a good thing to many and obviously bad to the businesses. whatever your viewpoint may be, music is still always around, and will always be.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
nothing too big, but if we were to go that far, roadrunner, thats it. we're looking more on the lines of Tooth and Nail, trustkill, victory, Metal Blade, Prosthetic....yeah.
Band History:
Steve: vocals
Eddy: Drums
Mike: Guitars, Vocals
Tio: Guitars, vocals
Mike B: Bass
So heres the story. Steve and Marc were in a previous band called Xplicit, Im not exactly sure how good they were...but I can say it didn't last. So Marc and Steve broke off of the band and went by themselves and they needed a guitarist. Meanwhile in school, Mike was a percussionist in the school band, and one of Steves friends, Eric, was a "trumpeteer". One day mike decided to play guitar in the band room, ya know for fun. Eric saw this and knew about Steves need, so he went after the period and immediatly told Steve about Mike. Later that week Eric took Mike to Steves lunch table and Mike and Steve talked for a while, and scheduled a time for Steve and Marc to check Mike out, and see how he was. That weekend Mike tried out and was dropped off. On the ride home Steve and Marc looked at eachother and nodded with a smile (literally....it's kind of wierd), so then mike turned out as the guitarist, and Nemico was oficially started. Flesh puppet was written in about 3 or 4 days (the old version), and after the song was written Jesse, a bassist was brought into the band...Jesse was in the band for about 5 months and then we had to leave him due to matters, then we had various replacement bassists for shows, just temporary people (who I must say were pretty good, but not bassists). So then kevin came in. Kevin was pretty good actually, but there were also some problems and he quit the band. Right now we're searching for a bassist and we should be on our way afterwards. There may also be a new guitarist coming soon, so watch out for that...and here he is! Our New guitarist Tio is on the roster. He's been one of Mike's best friends for about four years, and he brought Tio in. Tio is 100% clutch on everything thats going on and we hope he lasts. we now have a new drummer and bassist. Eddy was known for over a year by the whole band (in fact he had been at the first show), as soon as marc had been released from nemico, Eddy was brought in to play Club Crannell on Jan. 24th 2004. as soon as Nemico heard him he was in. Mike B. moved to NY from Texas and was discovered by mike and Eddy. we asked him to play bass for us as we had no current bassist, and also ended up being a great writer and contributor to the band.

Your influences?
We have a lot between all of us. mostly metal bands like 40 below summer, System of a Down, Nothingface, Metallica, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Meshuggah and many more. now that eddy and mike have entered the band, we also have a lot of death metal in the drums and punk and thrash from Beenz. A year has passed now since Mike and Beenz have been in the band and we've improved our sound so much it's incredible. what we've odne in a year, people would kill to do.
Favorite spot?
our favorite place to play is probably in suffern. we have the biggest fan base around there, so much that people actually sing the lyrics back to us, it's incredible.
