Life experiences are the basis for most music's greatest artists.Gnasha is no exception. Through out his debut single, " Not Like All Yall", the Zimbabwean bred songwriter - singer/rapper draws from real - life to craft his stirring song. Strictly a Hip Hop attitude and edge, Gnasha pulls no punches when he sits down and writes.
Why this name?
Gnasha is a name I made up from my first and second names, Gerald and Nyasha. I linked some letters up to come out with Gnasha.
Do you play live?
At the moment I have not been taken up by any promoters but hopefully some time soon I will be on the streets.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yes, I think it is the best way of getting to be known internationally.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, definitely."I need one right now".
Band History:
Gnasha aka Ghost, real name Gerald Nyasha Mtunzi first started making an impression on the local hip hop scene in his ealry teens. His reputation, although still growing considerably, came after he joined The Desert Rats Supreme, working alongside Yung Izz and Pretty Boi. He first performed with the group in high school, in St Albans, and they became noted for their political and religious stance. Gnasha also made several appearances at BTWSC shows. BTWSC, a Brent-based, pan-London not-for-profit voluntary organisation uses the creative arts to develop the potential of both youth and adults. Its core projects are centred around music business and music technology BTWSC was co-founded in April 2003 by its co-ordinator, Ms Serwah, FRSA, a Ghanaian-born barrister and social activist, after she successfully completed a CEMVO Millennium award project called Beyond The Will Smith Challenge. Gnasha has also worked with a Drum'n'Bass DJ Snydee and makes occasional visits to his local internet radio station Manicfm (www.manicfm.com) Gnasha is still confirming his status as one of hip hop music's finest talents, not just a singer/rapper and performer, but as a songwriter as well. His tracks are an appropriate testament to an artist whose popularity could only continues to grow, and who undoubtedly will be an influential figure in hip hop music in the future.
