Greetings! Welcome to my stash of little mp3s.
These recordings represent some of my personal experiments in nonstandard tunings, in other words, in tunings other than the Western standard of 12 equal notes to the octave, 12-tone equal temperament, or 12tET. I believe that the universe of tuning is a large and largely-unexplored one with fantastic and mind-bending sounds and ideas.
I am learning. These recordings are simple exercises for my ear and mind. Most of them are not complete works, but little ideas that I've had and wish to share.
Whether you are a tuning enthusiast or someone newer to this than I am, I hope you'll find something you enjoy here.

Do you play live?
I have not performed my xenharmonic improvisations, but I would like to, and probably will at my school next semester. A special live xenharmonic moment for me was during a freeform jam at my friend Chris' house. He and Scott played guitar and piano, respectively, and I tuned up to 41tET and made my own xenharmonic scale to go along. It was quite lovely!
Your influences?
Captain Beefheart, Radiohead, George Crumb, Flaming Lips, Jandek, Harry Partch, Soul Coughing, Ornette Coleman, Aphex Twin, Edgard Varese, R.E.M. and X. J. Scott.
Equipment used:
I've recently acquired the Li'l Miss' Scale Oven, which is allowing me to easily retune to any scale imaginable. Also, I'm running Cubase in Mac OS9, and I'm using some free cheesy softsynths. Older improvisations (which is most of them) use a demo of Native Instruments' FM7.
