A true powerhouse trio, Long Time Comin delivers aural intoxication through an ear-splitting combination of adrenalized, uninhibited rock and a thorough understanding of well constructed song craft. The driving blues-based rythym section of drummer Marcos Galvan and bassist/vocalist Hal Vorpahl provide a solid platform for Brian Bayer to lay down some straight forward rock guitar. Mix that with Hal's unique and raw approach to lyrics and vocals, and you have Long Time Comin. The blend is guaranteed to get you on the floor, it's up to you after that. Whiskey and beer not included.
Why this name?
Singer Hal Vorpahl studied literature in college and it derived from a poem he wrote. He felt it was the perfect name for an up and coming independent band.
Do you play live?
Texas and louisiana. We love playing biker rally's and larger outdoor venues. We play all over Austin including the infamous sixth street.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has given musicians a chance to be heard globally that otherwise might have gone unknown. It also shows the major record labels that some bands have the potential to survive and make a decent living without them. Its just happens at a slower pace.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We just started our own independent label called Two lane Highway Productions so it depends entirely on the situation at the time. As an indie label you can never have the immediate mass marketing, commercial radio airplay and promotions that comes with a major label. But you are your own boss. To us that means a lot.
Band History:
Hailing from various regions of the lone star state of Texas the band met by fate in austin in early 2002. After numerous practice sessions the members Brian Bayer, Hal Vorphal and Marcus Galvan found immediate chemistry in their musical style and taste. Writing & playing songs about life and personal experience is what this Texas Band is all about. Given a chance they are songs that a lot of us can possibly relate to. Its music created with a lot of heart and soul born & brewed right here in the lone star state. We call it Texas Outlaw Blues Rock.
Your influences?
Living in Austin Texas one must have Stevie Ray Vaughan as a huge influence. We are surrounded by his memories and his music is on the radio here on a constant basis. Others include Jimi Hendrix because he was a natural and played guitar by feel. Other major influences in our style of music must be contributed to ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Some of the great blues artist such as Freddie King are very high on the list. Many Many other blues & rock greats.
Favorite spot?
We can honestly say we enjoy just about everyplace we go. It is a lot of fun going to a new city and venturing around. Seeing new faces. But like everyone else we are very proud of our roots. We love Austin Texas as much as anyone can. Its a fantastic and exciting music city. The largest university in the nation is here so it is very youthful and upbeat.
