Why this name?
A couple years ago I was at a party and wasn't seeing to staight at the time and misread the name of a cook book. It was called "Field of Gravy" or something like that. I thought it said "Fields of Gravity". It sounded like a hood name for a band. So when I started playing music again, I adopted it. I then changed the "of" to "ov" as a tip-of-the-hat to the Psychic Warriors ov Gaia.
Do you play live?
Not presently. Right now it's all Pc based manipulations. Personally, I think a guy on stage with nothing but a laptop is kind of boring. So until I come up with something substantial to add, the world is going to have to wait...
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet/Mp3 is a kin to the first fish that walked on to land and took a great big breath of air. It was a huge leap but is nothing compared to the changes that are ahead. Some say they hope the industry catches on. I don't. I hope they slip ignorantly into extinction. The only thing they have of any use is money and in order to get the money yuo have to give up what you wanted the money for in the first place. Good Ridance...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Why...? I would consider signing a non-exclusive with distributors.
Band History:
Played keyboards in a half dozen different bands from the mid to late 80's. OUr style was in the vein of 'the cure', 'echo and the bunny men', 'Souxie...' etc. Around '89 the band I was in went grunge and kicked me out for not being grunge enough. I packed up all my equipment and didn't touch it again until the winter of 2001. A friend gave me a cd with a slew of soft synths, trackers, plugins, wave editors etc. And I had the bug to make music again. So as of now, I've leared a lot but still have much more to learn musically, technologically and production wise.
