Now known as The Brazos River Band. A 7 piece class act in Las Vegas. www.brazosriverband.com will take you there
Why this name?
I wrote the song "Brazos River Coming Down" almost 20 years ago. I've been wanting to put a band together that would do it justice.
Do you play live?
Large casino showrooms, corporate gigs.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Availability. Unfortunately along with that comes piracy and theivery (as with anything else.) It does, however, offer a great window of opportunity to the media. After all - you're reading this aren't you? LOL!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm pushing 57 now - I would not hold my breath waiting for them to bang down the door. It's all about the music - each person is a creative force that drives with imagination. And sure - I'd sign.
Band History:
I've managed to find 6 very talented artists and musicians to lock into a great class country act. Each one - diverse in their own ways, contributes to a phenominal and professional performance each time they take the stage.
Your influences?
B.B. King for his heartfelt soul . . .
Conway Twitty for ability to deliver the feeling
Robin Williams for his uncanny quick wit
Tim Conway for sharing hsi life.
Merle Haggard for his truth and delivery
Wayne Newton for staying there for so long
Rod Stewart for his guts to "crossover!"
Martina Mc Bride for her strength, range, and eyes.
Alan Jackson and George Strait for keeping it real.
Barbara Mandrell for her tremendous talent.
Kyle Hutton who has NEVER lost his dream and only continues to achieve it!
Kenny Chesney for having the determination to live his life with his own flair.
Hank Jr. for not giving a damn and playing it anyway!
Tanya and Gretchen for telling it like it is and the way they want to tell it!
Confederate Railroad for just doing it!
My mom and dad for not deciding to abort!
Favorite spot?
I'm here! Las Vegas is as great as I've ever dreamed it would be!
Equipment used:
Gretsch, Martin, Fender, Ovation, Shure, Behringer, Crown, JBL, etc. etc. etc. (Get the picture yet?) LOL!
Anything else...?
I was fortunate enough in my career to have one song published and recorded on an indie by a female artist - That was "Mama's Rocking Chair" and still have hopes of it going on to a major label by the right artist. (Don't we all?) I've received a few awards along the way for songwriting . . . and a message for other writers: NEVER GIVE UP! Things are happening when you don't know they are (thanks Terry Smith for those words of encouragement!)
