Atom Boy is a band out of Dover, Ohio that's kicking ass and taking girls phone numbers.
Why this name?
Our guitarist, Josh, was sitting in school one day writing down suggestions for band names and that's the one that made it. We've been through about four different names. (Rich)
Do you play live?
Yeah, we play live. Mostly at local parties and stuff. And we LOVE it. We like nothing more than playing live. Recording is awesome, but playing live is a lot better and more fun. And any show is a special moment. We'll remember all of them for the rest of our lives. We Love everyone who comes to the shows and your one of the main reasons we have so much fun doing what we do. (Rich)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it has changed the music industry for the better. It really helps in terms of getting people from other places to hear music and stuff. (Rich)

It helps people get their music out there and listened to.(Josh)

It helps Rich fall in love. (Neal)

And Neal secretely likes to kiss guys. (Rich)
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Definitely. (Rich)
Band History:
Here it goes. Back in January of '04, It was I (Richard Ewing, the drummer) Josh Thomas (the guitarist), Bradley Smith (Our old bassist) and our old guitarist who wasn't good at all (Matt). We got rid of Matt because we were tired of his crap. About four months later, Neal Phile (now our singer/bassist) came along and was just our lead singer. About three to four months later, we got rid of Bradley and Neal ended picking up full time bass. And the rest is history. (Rich)
Your influences?
Musical influences are Blink 182, Box Car Racer Sum 41, Green Day, Taking Back Sunday, Relient K, Alkaline Trio, Dropkick Murphys, The Sex Pistols, and other punk and rock bands ...Some of our friends are

The Fat Kid-www.purevolume.com/thefatkid
A Perfect Kiss-www.aperfectkiss.com
The Fashion-www.purevolume.com/thefashion

So check them out...recently..weve been trying to listen to all kinds of music for influences...except for like boy geoge and prince...Rich has been trying to get us to listen to that kinda stuff but were strongly descouraging it and praying to God that he stops singing like Cher. (Neal)

Something else...Neal is the one who asks me to sing like Cher. It's his fault. He told me that he'd handcuff me to the bed again if I didn't..so blame him. (Rich)
Favorite spot?
Not sure.
Equipment used:
Nothing for sure yet. For the time being, we've got a Laney 300 watt halfstack, a Yorkville 100 watt bass amp, an Epiphone Explorer guitar, a Sammick bass, and a Tama Rockstar with Paiste 502 cymbals.
Anything else...?
Yes actually...we just want to say we love and appreciate every single person that has come to a show listened to our songs and said..."hey, These guys are pretty kool"....we also wanna sey hey to all the bands that have helped us so far...and tell you thank you so much...for everything...you guys rule...(Neal)

Yeah. Just thanks to all the people that listen to us and all that. We really do appreciate it. Keep listening. (Rich)
