We produce a weekly anime radio talk program called "ASO Radio." During our show we cover the latest Japanimation news. Afterwards we deal out a review or two, follow up with our fan mail, and then wrap up the show with our random showcase, the HotSpot.

We bring out the best in Japanese animation.
Why this name?
ASO Radio actually stands for Anime Society Otaku. Originally the founding members of ASO Radio attempted to create a high school anime club called "The Anime Society." When their proposal was denied, Nz17 created ASO Radio, and the Anime Society lived on in name.
Do you play live?
When we first started the show we would record our segments and then edit them together before posting them on the Internet. We have recently begun experimenting with doing a live nightly broadcast show.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The Internet has had a big impact on music in many ways. The fact that anyone can post his or her music online and begin selling that way makes a big difference. However it still does not eliminate the biggest problem any audio artist faces, and that is getting your work in the public's eye. If you can achieve that but still maintain your independence then success will be only as grand as you can make it.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I doubt a "major label" would sign up a comedy review show, especially one as niche as ours, but I would certainly be happy to have our comedic stylings on a radio station!
Band History:
For a full history of ASO Radio, please see our ASO Radio information page to find out all you ever wanted to know (and some you didn't) about our favorite anime talk radio program.
Your influences?
We've been influenced by a number of sources over the years. Every show (or just about every show) starts off with the "Funny" featuring our zany sense of humor. We generally parody popular culture and anime.
Favorite spot?
Our favorite spot to broadcast from is our broadcast room. ;)
Equipment used:
We use a preamp, a $50 microphone and $? stand from Radio Shack, and a computer running Debian Linux.
Anything else...?
We really appreciate all the fans over the years that have made our show worthwhile. As we say on the programme, the fans make the show, and I really feel that saying has it pretty right: without our faithful we probably couldn't work up the will to put out our show.
