Why this name?
About 1999 I was looking for a theme for the band and I remembered I went with my room mate in college to a place called Camp Living Waters somewhere in Pa. It was pleasant, surrounded by Pennsylvania hills covered with trees and was absolutely enjoyable. A fond memory for me and a breakout point in my life, I thought this would be a great name for a band.
Do you play live?
Economics presently makes it difficult to play concerts live so we pretty much devote our energies to making recordings.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's opening up new avenues where bands can represent themselves without having to go the traditional publishing route.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I believe the question is quickly becoming, do we even need to? Like the last question there's new opportunities to go independent release, be your own label, and possibly be more profitable.
Band History:
Living Waters Jazz is originally conceived in or about 1999. As each arrangement was completed I posted the audio here. Almost ten years later Living Waters Jazz has gone through changes and is now releasing commercial works which you can hear a sample of at livingwatersjazz.com (Music page). The arrangements still listed here are those completed up to and about 2001.
Your influences?
Big Band Swing as typified by The Swing Era. Lots of brass and rhythm and ballads.
Favorite spot?
Next to the Mrs. and kids.
Equipment used:
This is changing all the time and usually is made up of digital components.

In early 2007 I decided the band need to go commercial. That year I spent a lot of time working on new compositions and arrangements for the band to play. Now you can hear these on the Living Waters Jazz CD, Get Up! Please see my website for more information: livingwatersjazz.com
