Presenting JoJo English
By: Katie Rutherford
Coming straight out of Houston, Texas JoJo English is the newest craze on Soundclick and Myspace. JoJo English, born Joey Eric Ardion was born on October 4, 1985 in Galveston and raised in La Porte, Texas.
He started making music when he was 17 years old to express his emotions. “Sometimes it’s not pretty, sometimes I release my anger and disappointment but it’s all me, I write what I’m feeling.”
His Myspace page, www.myspace.com/jojo1085, has received over 18,000 views and his Soundclick page, www.soundclick.com/jojoenglish has had over 10,000 plays. JoJo’s single “My Sad Story” has recently reached No. 3 out of 1.7 million on the Soundclick overall rankings. He was even chosen to be on DJ Green Lantern’s Monster Mash part 2 Mix Tape. Earlier this year Jo Jo English was offered a record deal, which he accepted and is now no longer recognized as unsigned hype.
As success begins to bestow itself on JoJo he remains humble and focused. He says he still appreciates old-school rap and reggae like Bob Marley and the Wu Tang Clan. “I’m not in this just to make money. I love making music, I have fun and it has helped me get through some ruff times. I believe my music can help other people and that’s why I do this.”
So stay tuned and let’s see what he can do.
Why this name?
Its a nick name that
I was given in high school
when i was growing up..
Do you think the web changes the music industry?
I think it does. It makes exposure
more responsive, and circulates well
within the music environment..
You reach a bigger general audience as a direct result of the exposure
Your influences?
I love more of the classic hardcore rap
and motown, soft r&b, with a dash
of classical music. I love instruments
in music. Pastor troy, tupac, al green,
marvin gaye, temptations, motzart, boche..
I believe if your in love with music you have to broaden your horizon, music to me isn't about just one genre...
Would you sign to a major label?
You already know my response, in due time..
Favorite spot?
Houston, Texas all day everyday..
Equipment used:
Its a Secret lol...
Anything else...?
Im realy stepping my game up, and causing these other fake rappers that can't even write their own music, to fall back. Im tired of waiting in the back, this is my time to shine, and my music from this point on will reflect that.
