NEWS   Hello Everyone and welcome.
Andy is an Independent Christian Artist and Songwriter who has been writing and performing music for over 15 years. Andy has released three self-produced CD's under the PlankintheEye Music label. He is currently working on a fourth project due to be released in 2008.
Why this name?
I thought it was a "hip" version of my name, Andrew Wiest => AndyW. Kinda gives it an online/internet feel.
Do you play live?
I currently play guitar for the Praise Team at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Aiea, HI. I have played live in coffeehouse events and have participated in several church praise and worship teams over the years. Previously I was the worship leader at Living Hope Church in Monterey, California until I had to relocate because of my day job.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives independent artists like me the opportunity to be heard and let others hear things from around the world that they would never have heard otherwise. It truly changes everything. I think making a more direct connection between the artist and the listener is great!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if their internet architecture didn't abandon the loyal and supportive online fan community.
Band History:
Andy started recording and performing in 1993 in Moscow, Idaho, while at college, at Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Since 1995 he has participated in music ministry at Metro North Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Bremerton Church of the Nazarene in Bremerton, Washington and Living Hope Church in Monterey, CA.
Your influences?
My Dad, Michael Card, Petra, Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk, Three Crosses, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith, Sixpence none the Richer, PAX217, EarthSuit, The Normals, The Elms, Cademon's Call, Third Day, Switchfoot.
I just like good music performed by people who love what they are doing. Artistry still counts, no matter how much technology is involved, the song has to shine through. I don't hem myself in with a particular style. I try to write what I hear...turns out I hear mostly guitar based pop-rock...;) ...but that's OK. One of the best complements I've recieved from listeners is that all my songs are pretty distinct.
Favorite spot?
Beach or Mountains.
Equipment used:
All kinds of stuff.
