Don't Believe in Goodbyes Anymore

Music - Juri Rosenfeld and Erik Rosenfeld, Lyrics- Dawn Sinclair.
I'm a a singer/songwriter originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I've tinkered with many instruments but pretty much stick to piano and guitar. I've been a member here at Soundclick for about 12 years now, I have met some incredible people from all over the world. I have collaborated with a lot of different musicians in my time here, but most notably I have been working quite closely with Juri Rosenfeld aka Grand Jury. Juri is an utterly amazing composer, musician, arranger, producer from Finland. And I am thrilled to be working with him. Very often the lyricist for these songs is Dawn Sinclair an extremely talented and prolific writer from England. From time to time I have worked with other artists as well, most of whom I have met here on Soundclick. Another SC member, Tom Moore and I have worked closely together on many projects as well, including a 17 song Christmas CD. I absolutely love musical collaboration but have recently been trying to focus on completing some more of my own original compositions. Also check out the band Fractured Beauty, here on Soundclick another collaboration project featuring the talents of Bob Kingdon and others with a psychedelic vibe.
Band/artist history
I have been singing, playing and composing since I was a kid. In school I was in every choir, band and musical production that came along. I was named "Most Likely To Become The Next Rockstar" In my highschool yearbook and I even wrote and performed a song with some friends at my own grad. In university I wrote, performed, composed, directed and toured with a bilingual theatre troupe to three Maritime provinces. I also played live shows regularly. My summer job for a lot of years was as a dinner theatre performer. I went on a bit of a musical hiatus when I lived for 4 years in Asia, teaching English as a second language (although I did sing lots of English songs during Circle Time) Now I live and work in a small Canadian town where there aren't as many opportunities for live shows, but I still host a monthly gathering at a museum where local musicians come to play.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have played in my living room and to audiences so large they become a sea and in many different venues, but one of my favourite memories was to look out one day into the audience as I was performing an original song to see a girl singing along with me. Afterwards, I asked her how she knew all the words and she told me she had been following me to all my shows around town and had seen me enough times that she'd learned the words by heart. That was a very cool moment.
Your musical influences
I have always been a big fan of Sarah Mclachlan, Tori Amos, Bjork, Stevie Nicks, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, all strong women with fantastic talents and a style truly their own. I'm also really into classic rock, from Zeppelin to The Beatles. I'm a big fan of anything Pixies and can't believe I wasn't more tuned-in to bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth, The Breeders and so many more in their heyday, because I adore them now. I also have a big soft spot for Broadway musicals, for pretty much anything musical, really.
What equipment do you use?
I currently record using Ableton, use an AKG C 3000 B mic, then everything goes through a Behringer U-Phoria USB capture. Special Thanks (for MANY reasons) to Juri Rosenfeld and Thomas Moore, My guitar is a Canadian-made cedar seagull, but since I have teeny hands I often play my boyfriend's slightly smaller necked Fender Hellcat. I have a flute I use on occasion and have been known to mess around with a harmonica or two.
Anything else?
I'd love to hear from anyone about these songs, user comments and feedback is welcome. Thanks for listening!
