Aetherius
NEWS
Working on new album 'complete thoughts from a fractured mind.' It will be highly experimental in some respects. It'll still have the same sad melodic style as the other stuff too in other respects. Only 3 songs to complete. Working on adding vocals to an old tune for the new album.

Not much to say really. I used to have something angsty here. now I don't. The music itself is mostly ambient, darkwave or a genre I like to call "symphonic-industrial"
Why this name?
I happened to be reading a book on Nostradamus, and came across a chapter on the Aetherius cult, who believes in a connection between Jesus and UFO's. As it happened, the word "Aetherius" is stemmed from Aether or Ether, which generally pertains to the residence of the gods among the stars. I've always been fascinated by stars. It all seemed to fit together...I guess...
plus it just sounded cool.

Do you play live?
I don't usually play live. That would require a band. If I were cloned or something, maybe It would be a member of my band. It's just me playing these.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I don't really think the internet has much effect on the music industry. I do consider those who download all the songs from one album, and then burn off a copy or two for themselves to be stealing, but I see no harm in downloading 2 or three songs from an artist's CD, and then using them to judge whether or not to buy said CD. As far as independent and underground music producers, the internet is a helpful tool in getting heard. It's a good feeling to know that it's possible to make it big when you started out with just a mouse and a midi sequencer.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would indeed, but I would make sure that I could still leave some of my songs available online.
Band History:
Not much history. I took piano lessons from when I was 7 until I was 16. I started playing the Bass at 14. I started playing the guitar at 13 (and I still suck). I became interested in melodic trance music somewhere along the way. Specific artists include Moby, and Guardians of the Earth. (I realize moby isn't really a melodic trance artist, but electronica in general was a good thing in my book.) I started making music in September of 2001, I've made 3 CD's of my own, and am in the process of making a fourth. Obviously not with a record company, unless Nero Burning Rom counts as a producer....
Your influences?
Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Tweaker, Primus, Radiohead, Paul van Dyk, Bjork, the Album Leaf, Sigur Ros
The only elements of my music you can rely on are piano, strings, melancholy chord progressions, and a freaky beat.

Favorite spot?
My favourite city? Why my home town, Bancroft, Ontario....but I suppose it's really just a village....If I had to pick a city, it'd be Halifax.
Equipment used:
Equipment? well...uh...Fruityloops Studio Pro 4, Cool Edit Pro, and various other things when they're required.
Anything else...?
A lot of my creative input comes from my friends OCRE, CoalConvertor, Fatal Error, and a few other people. Thanks guys.
